NOTE: Florida Licensed Doctors: Certified Optometrists are required to maintain professional competency by completing thirty (30) hours of C.E. every two (2) years, in subjects relating to optometry that have been approved by the Board.At least six (6) of those thirty (30) hours must be of transcript quality (T.Q.). In the case of a certified optometrist, the six(6) hours of T.Q. C.E. must be in Ocular Pharmacology. Additional requirements include two (2) hours of Florida Jurisprudence, and two (2) hours of Medical Errors. HIV/AIDS course is no longer required for Florida O.D.’s, except for new graduates who have not yet taken the licensing exam. NOTE: Due to certain requirements by some states in approving continuing education, the Palm Beach County Optometric Association will not be responsible for obtaining approval for continuing education courses in advance. Attendance documentation will be available. COPE approval has been applied for in states where COPE is accepted.
